Our ethical policy was devised to connect with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). We did this so that the ambitions of our business could be seen in the context of a wider-reaching framework for global improvement and to demonstrate our commitment to playing a part on a bigger scale.

The SDGs recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

There are 17 SDGs (listed below), which were adopted by the United Nations' member states in 2015. They provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for all people and the planet, now and in the future. They constitute a call to action for all countries (both developed and developing nations) to work together in a global partnership.

Through our ethical policy, we are making a contribution to nine of the SDGs (numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17). Please read our policy for more details.

Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts*

Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
