Join Stuart Pool from Nineteen48 for a full day of gemstones and gemmology at Fool’s Gold Jewellery Studio in South Somerset.
This hands-on workshop will give you a solid introduction to the fascinating world of gemstones, from some of the science behind them and the journey a gemstone takes, through to their different properties and how gemmologists identify them.
You’ll get the chance to examine a wide variety of gemstones, learn how to use some of the key tools of the gemmologist and put what you’ve learnt into practice.
The workshop is hosted by jewellery designer and maker Julia Thompson at her Fool’s Gold Jewellery Studio at Flaxdrayton Farm - a working jewellery studio dedicated to traditional making skills and hands-on learning.
No previous gemmology experience is needed, making this perfect for jewellers who want to better understand the materials they work with, as well as anyone who simply wants to know more about gemstones.
The day includes a gemstone reference book to take home and refreshments throughout the workshop. With a maximum of just 10 people, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to get hands-on with the gems, ask questions and learn directly from Stuart.
