This is a lovely, Tanzanian amethyst, with a distinctive, fancy cut, weighing over 10 carats.

The gemstone was responsibly mined by a member of the Tanzanian Women Miners' Association (TAWOMA) in the Tanga region of north-eastern Tanzania as part of the Moyo Gemstones project. The stone comes from an artisanal mine and is traceable back to the individual miner.

It was cut and polished at our dedicated cutting workshop in Sri Lanka.

The gemstone has some damage to the girdle, which is reflected in the price. The damage might not be obvious once the stone has been set.

This gem has not been treated in any way.
