Understanding the SKU

Understanding the SKU — and where your gems come from

Every gemstone on our website is assigned a unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). This code helps you quickly identify where a gemstone comes from, what type of gem it is, and its individual reference number.

Our SKU structure is designed to be transparent and informative:

How to read your SKU

1. Country of origin
The first two letters indicate the country the gemstone comes from.

Example: SL = Sri Lanka
2. Specific location or project (optional)
If there is an additional two-letter code following the country, this refers to a specific region or project within that country, such as Rubyfair or Pohorabawa.
3. Gemstone type
The next three letters identify the gemstone itself.

Example: SAP = Sapphire
4. Unique six-digit reference number
Finally, each stone is given its own six-digit number. This number is unique to that individual gemstone or parcel and allows us to track it through our system.
