A delightful, pale pink sapphire with incredible sparkle and an unusual, triangular, fancy cut.

This lovely gemstone was found at an artisanal mine near Pelmadulla in Sri Lanka's main gem mining region around Ratnapura and cut in the same area.

It would be ideal for a contemporary style engagement ring.

Nineteen48 sapphires are responsibly sourced from Sri Lanka and Tanzania. Many of Nineteen48's sapphires come directly from their own artisanal mine near Kuruwita. Others are sourced through a long-established network of local Sri Lankan miners, with whom strong and trusted relationships have been developed over the years.

The town of Pelmadulla is located within the main gem mining area in Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka.

It lies south-east of the provincial capital, Ratnapura, which is the focal point of gemstone mining and trading activities.

Sapphire is corundum in any colour except red. When corundum is red, it is called ruby. There is no definitive rule that separates pink and red - it is up to the viewer to decide if the stone is a ruby or a pink sapphire.
